Firebox, smoke shelf and damper cleaned of ash, soot and damp deposits, with a note on any rust or staining found. In Oxnard, we plan the visit around the local weather and the roofline each house type has.
Describe any stain, drip or rust you have seen, and we will set up the Oxnard visit around it.
Every fireplace cleaning visit in Oxnard comes back to one question: where is water getting in, and what has it reached? Ash left in a firebox through a wet winter becomes a caustic paste that eats mortar and rusts steel, so it comes out along with the damp soot on the smoke shelf. Alderwood Chimney Services covers Oxnard and the streets toward Silver Strand and Port Hueneme.

Salt air is the main thing working on chimneys in Oxnard, especially in the neighborhoods closest to the harbor and the beaches. It corrodes galvanized caps, rusts flashing fasteners and eats through steel chase covers much faster than it does inland. When we find water in a firebox here, a corroded cap or a rusted-out chase cover is usually part of the story.
Rainfall on the coast is modest, but the marine layer brings damp air on many mornings through much of the year. Masonry that never fully dries holds salts near the surface, which is how efflorescence and spalling get started. Stainless steel caps and covers make more sense here than almost anywhere else we work.
Where we work
These are the parts of town we visit most, but we cover the whole city. If your street is not listed, send your address and we will confirm before booking.
Most of what we see in Oxnard is beach cottages and harbor homes, mid-century ranch houses, and newer planned subdivisions. That mix changes how a chimney meets the roof, where water collects and which part of the system fails first, so we set up each fireplace cleaning visit for the house rather than the street.

the Conejo Valley neighborhoods from Newbury Park to Westlake Village
Tile roofs are everywhere in Thousand Oaks, and they make chimney leaks harder to spot because the tiles hide the flashing underneath. Many calls here start with a ceiling stain beside a stucco chase, and the cause is often a flat, rusted chase cover holding water at the top. Brick chimneys on the hillside streets more often leak at the counter flashing.

Camarillo sits far enough from the ocean for warm afternoons but close enough for morning fog, so chimney metal here sees both moisture and heat. Galvanized caps and chase covers tend to show rust streaks sooner than owners expect. On the single-story ranch homes, the chimney often rises through a low roof slope where leaves and water collect behind it.

Santa Paula chimneys deal with irrigation as much as rain. Sprinklers and orchard water hitting the base of a chimney can keep brick wet right through the dry months, and we often trace white stains on the lower courses to a misaimed sprinkler head rather than a roof leak. Brick stacks near downtown more often leak at the top, through worn crowns and open joints.

Ventura gives us both kinds of chimney water problem in one city. Near the beach, salt air corrodes caps and flashing. On the hillsides above downtown, wind-driven rain hits exposed chimneys hard, and many brick stacks there were finished with a thin mortar wash instead of a true crown, which cracks and lets water into the core.
